The reason why Bush's war on terror doesn't work

The philosopher David Velleman said that the mind is continually in search of coherency and consistency. Taking this as our assumption we can see that Islamic fundamentalism, better thought of as Islamic praxis (the application of theory to practice), is this kind of phenomena. The assumptions of the Islamic faith are that the Quran and Sunnah are the source of guidance for mankind. From a reading of these many authors conclude that Islam is a way of life, both individually and socially. They have sought to apply Islamic principals and directives into every institution in society. This is sometimes seen to have culminated into a political struggle or jihad that uses any means necessary to achieve their goals. This is actually incorrect given a reading of jihadi literature, since they tend to see their role as protectors of the Muslim people, the ummah from external aggression. A full discussion of jihahis is outside the scope of this article.

The main point is that Islamic praxis is a psychological process of creating consistency between assumptions or cultural norms and the world at large. Thus arresting all the leaders and Bin Ladens of this world will not stop Islamic praxis. The fact that this is a social phenomena that originates from a psychological process is something that has been overlooked by the Bush administration in its moron terror.

Islam literally means peace. It has emphasised the wrong doing of killing. Life is sacred in Islam. The prophet was always a seeker of peace. Today Muslims around the world are rejecting this message in favour of an innovation, the suicide bomb. This is not allowable under Islam. Firstly suicide is wrong in Islam and secondly you are not allowed to fight civilians in war.

Why join a peace movement when so many are dedicated to taking the route of war. This is what Bush wants you to do. If you fight him you will find your countries taken over by his overwhelming power. The only way to fight Bush is with peace. He won't be able to justify to the American public to fight wars against people who want peace.

You have to want peace as badly as your soul. If you are persecuted for the belief of peace then you become a martyr. This is the only true martyrdom.
